How Tigerlily Supports Toad Hall’s Commitment to Excellence in First Aid Training.

Toad Hall Nursery Group has been partnered with Tigerlily since 2012 to support first aid training across its nurseries. This case study focuses on Tigerlily’s role in helping Toad Hall maintain a consistently high standard of first aid training across multiple early years settings, supporting compliance, confidence and practical readiness.

The challenge: What Toad Hall needed

For Toad Hall, first aid training was not only a compliance requirement. The group wanted a training partner that could support its commitment to the highest standards of first aid training across every nursery, helping ensure staff were prepared to respond confidently and appropriately to various emergency situations (for example anaphylaxis, chocking etc) for both children and adults. This meant creating a consistent, organisation wide approach that went beyond minimum expectations. Toad Hall wanted staff to complete Full Paediatric First Aid, within their first three months of starting, maintain knowledge through annual refreshers and reinforce practical response through regular first aid drills. The challenge was to make this approach scalable across multiple nursery settings while keeping training practical, early years-specific and aligned to the realities of caring for babies and young children.

Tigerlily’s solution: What Tigerlily delivered

Tigerlily delivered early years-specific paediatric first aid training across Toad Hall Nursery Group, focusing on practical emergency response in nursery environments. The programme supported Toad Hall’s decision to train all staff to the Full Paediatric First Aid standard, a full 12 hours blended course which combines 6 hours of practical training with 6 hours eLearning, rather than limiting training to minimum requirements. This helped provide a consistent training standard across the group and gave staff a shared foundation of knowledge and practical preparedness. Tigerlily’s trainers adapted sessions to support different levels of confidence and experience, helping staff take part in a clear, practical and supportive learning environment. Ongoing refresher training also helped teams revisit essential knowledge and maintain confidence over time

The impact: Objective outcomes

The partnership has supported Toad Hall’s ability to maintain a consistent, high-standard approach to first aid training across its nurseries. For new starters, the three-month Full Paediatric First Aid expectation creates a clear onboarding pathway. For existing staff, refresher training and practical drills help keep knowledge current and reinforce how teams should respond in emergency situations. The training has supported staff confidence in responding to incidents such as febrile convulsions, head injuries and everyday accidents. Operationally, Tigerlily’s support contributes to a repeatable training framework that helps Toad Hall uphold compliance, strengthen confidence and keep first aid readiness embedded within day-to-day nursery practice.
